By using metaphors, imagery, symbols and vocabulary within a figurative language in their works, Romantic authors such as, William Blake and Percy Bysshe Shelley contributed greatly to Literature. In my essay I am going to analyze the significance of the language and style used in the poems The Tyger by William Blake and To a Skylark by Percy B. Shelley.

William Blake was a poet and artist during the Romantic Period. His first published work was a collection of poems protesting war, tyranny, and King George III’s treatment of the American colonies. Then in 1789 his Songs of Innocence were printed followed five years later by his Songs of Experience.
William Wordsworth was born on 7 April, 1770 and died the 23 April, 1850 was an English poet and one of the most influential writers in English romanticism. Best know for his style and theories that helped to renew the poetry of his country. During his youth he demonstrated a strong interest and love for nature which is shown in most of his works.
In this way Blake highlights that morals were decreasing and becoming less prevalent in society and this culture was allowing people to go on forgotten including the defenceless, vulnerable children.Symbolism is a fundamental aspect of romantic poetry, it allows poets to explain their thoughts from many angles at the one time through taking advantage of the ability of symbols to simultaneously.
