The test can be applied to almost any aspect of life. The test was scripted by Herbert J. Taylor an American from Chicago as he set out to save the Club Aluminum Products Distribution Company from bankruptcy. It was later adopted by Rotary.
The short-term goal is to have every Club sponsor a Four-Way Test Essay Contest in the eighth grade of every Public and Private School in their geographical area. If every eighth grader in our District prepared a Four-Way Test essay, soon every High School student in our District would know about Rotary. A Rotary Club is encouraged to join with these groups to provide guidance and understanding of the Four Way Test. The idea is to pair up a Rotary Club with a school or class.
